The objectives of the GP Workforce and Welfare program are:

• To develop and implement an effective GP workforce support program;
• To provide a comprehensive GP/Practice staff education and research program; and
• To promote GP health and a balance of their professional and private lives.

• Workforce development:
Engaging international medical graduates
Supporting medical student & GP registrar placements
Developing and implementing GP workforce support models for succession planning or alternatives to corporatisation.

• Education & training opportunities
Enhancing knowledge, skills and quality of care through the provision of a comprehensive continuing professional development (CPD) programs for GPs and their practice staff using adult learning principles
Fostering GP professional & social networking
Promoting research in general practice
The GP Network is an approved RACGP QA/CPD accredited provider.

• Emergency Management response
Coordinating GP for emergency response and availability of primary care clinics
As the conduit of information and coordinator of supplies and GP/practice workforce planning in a disaster or pandemic flu.

• Support for GP health and welfare
Encouraging GP health strategies
Funding short term crisis and counseling services for GPs and their practice staff through Converge
Promoting the RACGP GPs for GPs service.

• Consult for a Cause
A philanthropic community support strategy by GPs in practices for people in need
