Immunisation

The GP Network takes a systematic approach to supporting general practices to implement the National Immunisation Handbook including the Australian Standard Vaccination Schedule, and National Immunisation Program and the GP Immunisation Incentives Scheme.

Objectives of the program include:

• Increased childhood immunisation rates
• Increased utilisation of patient recall and review systems
• Increased patients within recommended clinical guidelines for targeting conditions
• Increased quality of immunisation procedures

Supporting and resourcing clinics for immunisation; ACIR and Cold Chain

• ACIR reporting & data correction procedures
• Immunisation Visits
• Cold chain audits/visits
• Fridge temperature testing
• Various resources including laminated schedules and various instruction manuals to assist GPs/staff
• Provision of coverage rates statements to practices to assist with recall for vaccinations

Preschool project
• Promoting immunisation to 4 year olds through general practices
• Collaborating with local councils to market general practice based immunisation through local preschools
